Can acupuncture help chronic neck pain?

Got a pain in the neck? Acupuncture is an important tool in the relief and treatment of chronic neck pain. Acupuncture works to correct balances in the nervous system that is leading to pain and inflammation. Acupuncture can help to relieve muscle pain and spasms and has been shown to be an effective treatment for acute and chronic pain.

Most common causes of chronic neck pain include: neck strain, cervical stenosis, disc herniation, whiplash injury, ‘tech neck’, and more. We commonly see people in our office that have been everywhere else for their chronic neck pain and are not finding lasting results. With treating any condition, addressing all aspects of why the symptoms appeared is key, especially for long-term relief. With neck pain, there are muscle, nerve, blood flow, and chronic inflammation at play so addressing the whole picture is essential.

Acupuncture has been shown in studies to help myofascial pain, improve nerve health, and reduce chronic inflammation. In addition, it has also found to work by releasing certain neurotransmitters in the brain to help with pain reduction.

At Starting Point Acupuncture, we start everyone with an initial consultation to gain a deeper understanding of your concerns, perform any exam to get a better picture of what maybe happening, and if we feel like our treatments can help your case. Dr. Heintze will give you a written treatment plan for care.
