Healthy Aging: Fast Facts

According to Science Magazine, “Age is the greatest risk factor for nearly every major cause of mortality in developed nations.” What are ways to help promote healthy aging and living your best life?

Here are Dr. Heintze’s Top 5 best ways to promote healthy aging:

  • Get good sleep. Sleep is the foundation of health!
  • Exercise: increases blood flow, improves muscle tone, and improves brain and cardiovascular function.
  • Decrease stress: Chronic stress = chronic inflammation. It is the chronic inflammation that leads to disease, poor sleep, and health issues down the road.
  • Diet: Eliminate “CRAP” foods, foods that are carbohydrate heavy, refined sugars, artificial sweeteners, and processed foods. DO focus on anti-inflammatory diet and foods that are high in protein, good fats, and organic
  • Supplementation: Supplements that reduce inflammation, have anti-oxidant benefits, and boost memory (Turmeric, fish oils, and probiotics…no name a few)

Bonus…Acupuncture! If you looked at the first 3 bullet points and thought “I dont get good sleep”, or “I am in so much pain that I cant exercise” or “My body is so stressed I can’t relax.” Now is the time to get those under control! At Starting Point, we specialize in chronic cases and often those with sleep issues that are fueled by high stress and the chronic pain-insomnia cycle. We can help break that cycle so you can work to promote health and vitality as well as healthy aging!
